Project # 1 Music genres in human history.

Music genres in human history

Music it’s one of the most important expressions of art that ever existed, it has been an evolving form of art since ancient times and varies widely geographically speaking, nowadays there are tons of different music genres and they all vary a lot from each other, I’m going to talk about mostly of 3 different genres and explain briefly what they are and some characteristics.

POP Genre

This genre of music it’s a very likeable one because it involves a lot of rhythm’s and joyful melodies, POP basically stands for popular music and normally tries to appeal to a wider audience, I really love this type of music because it makes me feel happy and makes me want to dance, the music its normally fast paced and very vivid, sometimes It can also be slower and more emotional so it makes it a really versatile genre of music.

Ballad Genre

This is by far my favorite type of music because it is very emotional and its very popular in Latin American countries, I like it because it is slowly paced and the instruments used are normally acoustic and very simple, the lyrics are normally beautiful and very sentimental and the voice of the singers is beautiful and full of emotions because most of the times they sing about their own personal lives and experiences and I find that very nice.

Instrumental Music

This music genre has been around for a very long time and it has many different sub genres, it is mainly composed by just acoustic and instrumental music and melodies, it has a really wide variety of instruments like flutes, violins, violoncellos, drums, tubas and many more, the melodies are very harmonic and peaceful, there are a lot of amazing and wonderful songs in this genre that are considered masterpieces of music history, I personally like this music a lot because it’s very technical and deep and it also tends to provoke a lot of emotions and interpretations even though It does not really have any kind of voice or lyrics most of the times.

Comparison

When it comes to comparing the previous exposed music genres we can see a lot of differences and really few similarities, when we compare them we can see that the audience for the different genres varies a lot, POP music tends to be more commercial, dedicated mostly to appeal to the masses with very simple lyrics most of the time, in the other hand ballad music tends to be more dedicated to people that can relate to it and the experiences it exposes in the lyrics, its filled with emotions and romance so it is really different in that matter, and about the instrumental music genre, it tends to be more dedicated to more cultural people with more complex taste in music since it involves complicated percussions, melodies and instruments.

Another huge difference between those genres is the melody itself, pop music tends to be more cheerful and fast paced, ballad music its more slow and full of feelings and instrumental music tends to be more complex and very harmonic and musically perfect.
Also, another difference is that the lyrics of POP music tend to be simplistic and very basic and ballad lyrics are more about feelings, emotions and experiences so it tends to be deeper and of course instrumental music lacks lyrics and any voice.

In the end I can honestly say that my favorite music genre it’s the ballad one since I can relate a lot to it and I feel like it’s more human and involves life experiences so I prefer it on top of the other 2 genres.
